Repost - 25 random things about me.

This is from one of those silly surveys that is passed around Facebook every once in a while, but I liked it so much that I think it's worth reposting. It was completed on February 9, 2009 so there's one very important update regarding #25 :).

25 Random Things about me:

1. I have traveled more than 500 miles to attend a soccer game (USA/Costa Rica in Portland, OR in 1997)
2. I am an avid family tree and family history researcher
3a. In music, movies, TV, books, etc. I always like the originators of new styles and genres.
3b. This means that I DETEST remakes and almost all sequels. Cover songs have to be significantly different from the original to keep a scowl off my face.
5. I use the same deodorant and chapstick that my Dad used when I was growing up. I don’t know if he still uses them, but I do.
6. I get bored easily.
7. I was one of the founders of a supporters (fan) club for the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer team.
8. I love to play cards. Hearts, Poker, Bridge, Crazy 8’s, Gin Rummy, I always like to play. I especially like playing the Mexican Poker game Viuda with Raquel’s Dad, Aunts and Cousins. They sit around and make rude comments to each other in Spanish and I just chuckle and play my cards.
9. I enjoy the process of sitting down and figuring out where all my money goes, making sure my bills get paid and that I save and invest some money every month.
10. I have taught Economics to college students (while I was a graduate student at UC Davis)
11. I have worked for high profile lawyers and Economists (during my time in the consulting business)
12. My boss once bought me a business suit (which I still have)
13. I am a descendant of royalty. I believe that almost everyone is, they just don’t know it and/or can’t trace it.
14. I married my high school sweetheart (It took us nine years, but we were together the whole time)
15. I am a homebody and a creature of habit/routine. This often conflicts with my interest in the new and original and my tendency to get bored and leads to…
16. I am very often unsatisfied. I always feel I ought to be doing something more or something better.
17. I enjoyed talking on the phone with customers a lot when I was a Loan Officer. But I don’t like talking on the phone while I’m at home. I scowl when the phone rings. I don’t know why this is.
18. I eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches regularly.
19. I was born without a first name, only a first initial (C). Kyle was the middle name on my birth certificate. My dad still calls me “C.K.”
20. My Dad also calls me the nickname “Sea Neva Dry” which is from a Nigerian proverb which means that I will always have money.
21. I have a compost bin with worms. I think I’ve successfully made dirt with it this year after four years of tinkering with the process.
22. I give ridiculous nicknames to my cats that change over time. Mookie became Mookoo Puerco, Mookus Capookus, and Mookookle Muerco. His sister started as Sweetie which morphed into Weetum, but she was orange so I also called her Little Orange Kitty, then Ornchie, then Warnchie Weetum. I have carried on this tradition with my daughters. Annabel was Baby, then Bubba, Bubblicious and Bubblitolicious, which was shortened to Bubble or just Bub. Lucy is Lucy Kaboosie or Kaboo. I also call her Babito with a long A. (I don’t know why it isn’t Babita, it just isn’t).
23. I am able to immerse myself in new sports and grow to like them very quickly. For example, when we went to Australia, I found myself fascinated by Cricket. I also picked up Pro Cycling in recent years and now watch the Tour de France and the Tour of California.
24. The Digital Video Recorder totally changed the way we watch TV at our house. I very rarely watch anything when it’s actually on any more.
25. I have some of a novel in my computer that I wrote in 2004. I still think it’s a great idea and would like to see it read and especially made into a movie. I just have to figure out how to get it finished to my satisfaction and out there. This is something I am going to work on this year. Maybe Facebook will even be able to help me. We’ll see.

Still fun to read these. Updates needed on novel status and nicknames for girls! :) What is it now, Chito and Babaloo?
